Recorded in 1959, this session strikes a perfect balance between hard bop sophistication and infectious joy.
The pianist leads with bounce and melodic flair, backed by a tight-knit quintet: Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Junior Cook on tenor sax, Gene Taylor on bass, and Louis Hayes on drums.
Tracks like Finger Poppin, Swingin the Samba, and Juicy Lucy burst with freshness, soul, and rhythmic precision.
A pure dose of swinging energy and feel-good jazz.
