Signature label in 1983. The widespread popularity of this record ultimately led to a deal with the MCA affiliated Rocshire label Alcatrazz, Citizen Kane, Tony Carey). Thus, Adrenalins major label debut, entitled American Heart, emerged in 1984 and was produced by Vini Poncia (Kiss). Released in 1986 following the signing of a new record deal with MCA, Road Of The Gypsy offered Adrenalin a second bite of the major label cherry. Rocshire was forced to close after the labels founders, Rocky and Shirley Davis were jailed in 1985 on embezzlement charges. The parent label MCA had seen enough potential in the group to sign them up to a new deal after they had been handed the opportunity to contribute a new song, Road Of The Gypsy, to the aforementioned Iron Eagle movie soundtrack that was released by Capitol Records. Bizarrely, rather than have the band record a brand new album, MCA having gained control of the American Heart master tapes decided to re-release the album in remixed form and dropping three of the original songs in favor of adding the aforementioned Road Of The Gypsy alongside the brand new tracks Summer Nights and Broken Hearted Bound. Sadly, Road Of The Gypsy received very little promotion from MCA for a number of reasons and the band eventually found
themselves without a deal and looking for a new vocalist following Gilberts departure. After hooking up with Grand Funk Railroads Mark Farner for a while, Adrenalin would effectively morph into DC Drive. Road Of The Gypsy captures a moment in time when Adrenalin were at the very peak of their game. Yesterrock in co-operation with Universal Music Germany now is re-releasing this sought after AOR gem for the first time on CD, with liner notes written by Dave Reynolds and with a re-mastered sound.
