A musician of virtuosity, subtlety, and passion, guitarist, singer and composer Luiz Bonf (1922-2001) ranks among the key architects of the bossa nova sound and the greatest masters of Brazilian popular music of the 20th century. As a composer and performer, Bonf was at heart an exponent of the bold, lyrical, lushly orchestrated, and emotionally charged samba-cano style that predated the arrival of Joo Gilbertos more refined and subdued bossa nova style. Presented here is one of his greatest albums, Plays and Sings Bossa Nova, on which he collaborates with such stars as Leo Wright, Oscar Castro-Neves and Lalo Schifrin. This superb release includes Bonfs classic version of his tune "Manh de Carnaval" (aka "Black Orpheus"), among many other highlights.THE COMPLETE LP + 4 BONUS TRACKS - 180-GRAM VIRGIN VINYL - LIMITED EDITION 1.
