Originally released in 2012, 1999 is the definitive debut mixtape from Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$ that helped reshape the modern underground rap landscape. Leaning heavily into the golden era sound, a 17-year-old Joey earned instant critical acclaim by paying flawless homage to the 90s. Beyond timeless standout tracks like Waves, Survival Tactics, and Snakes, the 15-track mixtape boasts production from icons like Chuck Strangers, Lord Finesse, MF DOOM, and J Dilla. It remains a crucial time capsule for the Pro Era collective, featuring memorable verses from Kirk Knight, CJ Fly, Nyck Caution, Rokamouth, Dessy Hinds, Dyemond Lewis, Tnah Apex, and the late Capital STEEZ. A classic that still sounds as fresh today as it did a decade ago. Pro Era Forever.
